Wilmington Screenwriter’s Script Greenlit in Northern Ireland, new script to shoot in Port City in May
Wilmington Screenwriter, Benedict R. Fancy’s short script The Hotel Trade has just received full funding from the Northern Ireland Film Commission via the British National Lottery and is set to begin filming in Belfast in March staring Jonathan Bryne (The Clinic, The Honeymooners, Watermelon) in the lead-role.
After receiving a string of accolades from national screenwriting competitions, the script was picked up for production by Princess Pictures Ltd of Belfast, Northern Ireland and will be produced by Natasha King (Nostradamus and Me, Rosebud, Never Judge a Book) and will be directed by Martin Brennan (Veronica Guerin, Soldier, The Boys From County Clare).
During pre-production, Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Red Eye, 28 Days Later and Breakfast on Pluto) was being considered for the lead-role but is currently taking a break from filming for family obligations.
In further news, Mr Fancy is now in pre-production of an independent short film, The Calming, a psychological thriller set to shoot in Wilmington in May. This will be his directorial debut of one of his own scripts produced under the banner of Powder Keg Films. A casting audition will be scheduled for the following parts: two adult males aged 25-35yrs, one adult female 25-35yrs and a young girl 8-12yrs. Submission deadline is March 31st with a scheduled audition to be announced.
