So I've finally started the production blog for the film 'The Calming'. It's taken me about a year to finally sit down and start this thing as I have been delaying the start of pre-production due to my work schedule and also financial situation regarding the films budget.
The scripts first draft was written over a year ago and since then has undergone three revisions and a lot of rewriting. The current draft that we are using is very close to being the shooting script.
This is the first film that I will be directing from one of my own short scripts. I currently have a script being shot in Northern Ireland titled 'The Hotel Trade' that is being directed by Martin Brennan and Produced by Sasha King of Princess Pictures Ltd, so 2006 looks like being the year that I get off the starting blocks.
As of this week, I have had the good fortune of gaining a good friend of mine, Meg Lansaw as my Casting Director. We've previously worked on a couple of movies together and she has just written and directed her first short film '80 Windows'. She will be invaluable to the project and I am very happy to have her on this project. I meet with her on Saturday.
I hope to have Shawn Lewallen onboard as my Director of Photography. He currently has the script and I hope to hear back from him later this week in regards to his interest in the project.
I am talking and meeting this week with Rick Pour of Evolution East Digital Studios here in Wilmington who I hope will become my Producer for the film. I meet with him this Thursday.
I also think that I am now one step closer to having Jeff Loy sign on as my Special Effects Specialist, which will be very cool.
And I hope to have my good friend, Zack Atkinson help out in the Location Department. I shall be meeting with him next week.
So here's to feaverishly trying to get the film through pre-production while maintaining the blog for all to follow.
